FEC is a 4-skills course; Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. Building on the basic skills you learned in high school, instead of learning “English”, we are going to learn about global issues using English.

This course is unique in that it requires students to share their culture with students from several different cultures, both in real time through video links and chat or email. Students will prepare to link with the other universities by researching and writing in English about their own university life in Hamada, Japanese families, traditions, stereotypes, and what gives meaning to their lives. This semester we will link with students in the United States, China, and Mexico.

This course prepares students for the TOEIC test.
